Tragedy in Norway

On July 22, 2011, right-wing extremist Anders Behring Breivik initiated a terrorist attack in Oslo, Norway resulting in the deaths of more than 70 people. After detonating a bomb in the city, Breivik shot and killed 69 people, mostly teenagers, on the nearby island of Utoya. In preparing for the attack, Breivik reportedly armed himself with ten 30-round magazines purchased from a U.S. supplier. Continue reading

Rep. Giffords Shot, 6 Killed, 13 Injured

A mentally unstable man armed with a 31 round assault clip walked up to an outdoor town hall meeting held by U.S. House Representative Gabrielle Giffords and opened fire. He killed six people and wounded thirteen others, including Rep. Giffords. The shooter, Jared Lee Loughner was only stopped when he paused to reload and was stopped by bystanders. Continue reading
