Jim and Sarah Brady received lifetime achievement award

On Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC, Jim and Sarah Brady received the Brady Center's Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of their nearly 30 years of service to the cause of preventing gun violence in America. The award was presented by actor Beau Bridges (who won an Emmy® and Golden Globe® for his portrayal of Jim Brady in the movie, Without Warning - The James Brady Story). The event was emceed by renowned ABC News journalist and former White House correspondent Sam Donaldson.

President Bill Clinton, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Brady President Paul Helmke also participated in the program.

The moving and inspirational evening was a tribute to Jim and Sarah's life-saving work.

The Brady Center Gala was held on Tuesday evening, May 18, 2010, at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.  We honored legendary journalist Helen Thomas and celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Million Mom March.

It was an inspirational evening where Jim and Sarah Brady, along with other gun violence victims, activists and donors came together to celebrate the Brady Center and its many accomplishments.

On June 16, 2009, key lawfirms, attorneys and other pro bono partners were recognized for their commitment to seeking justice for gun violence victims at the celebration luncheon in Washington, DC on June 16.

Big and heartfelt praise for the Legal Action Project's groundbreaking work came from Senator Dick Durbin and Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy. Sarah and Jim Brady were on hand along with nearly 180 friends and supporters to celebrate 20 years of taking the fight against gun violence into the courts.
