Support the Brady Center at Events in New York City and Los Angeles this Fall

To recognize hard-working advocates and supporters and raise funds for our life-saving work, the Brady Center is holding events in New York City in October and in Los Angeles in November.

Monday, October 27 (6 PM) in New York City, we will honor Edie Smith, President of the New York Million Mom Chapters, and Thomas J. Comey, Jersey City (NJ) Chief of Police. Donna Dees-Thomases, founder of the Million Mom March will present. Grammy Award-winning comedian Lewis Black will entertain. Click here for more New York City Event information.

Sunday, November 9 (5 PM) in Los Angeles, we will honor Tom Werner, Chairman, Boston Red Sox; Sheila Walker, Advocate; Los Angeles Police Department SWAT Officer James Veenstra and the family of SWAT Officer Randal Simmons. Click here for more Los Angeles Event information.

September 26-28, 2008 Nationwide: Second Annual God Not Guns Sabbath. Join faith communities across the country as they organize to host God Not Guns Sabbath activities and events for 2008. Click here for information.

Tuesday, October 28 in New York City: Brady President Paul Helmke will debate against the proposition "Guns Reduce Crime" along with Yale professor John Donohue and Seattle Police Chief Gil Kerlikowske. Arguing for the proposition will be John Lott, Wayne LaPierre, and Gary Kleck. The debate is being produced by Intelligence2 United States, which brings Oxford-style debates to a live audience. On Monday, October 22, 2007, many of the Brady Center's committed supporters joined together to honor three well-deserving award recipients at the newly opened Times Center: Nick Brown, Managing Director, GFI Group, Inc.; Jackie Rowe Adams and Jean Corbett Parker, Founders of Harlem Mother S.A.V.E.; and Detective Sargeant Pat Kissane.

Stand Up for a Safe America — Washington, DC

The Brady Center would like to thank all of our supporters for making the annual Stand Up for a Safe America Gala in Washington D.C. a great success.

Sam Donaldson, 37-year ABC News Veteran, hosted the evening with his witty repartee, and the program honored Representative Rahm Emanuel with the Sarah Brady Visionary Award and Montgomery County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger with the James S. Brady Law Enforcement Award. On hand to present the awards to our honorees were Brady Center Chair, Sarah Brady, and Congressman Chris Van Hollen.
