UPDATE ON SHADY DEALINGS REPORT
FROM BRADY CENTER TO PREVENT GUN VIOLENCE

The Brady Center's report Shady Dealings: Illegal Gun Trafficking from Licensed Gun Dealers, issued on January 22 of this year, used over two dozen examples to show the various ways in which licensed gun dealers can facilitate illegal trafficking. We acknowledge in the report the possibility that, in certain of these cases, the dealer could have been cooperating with federal law enforcement authorities in completing the transactions discussed. We also noted that such cooperation was not evident in the publicly-available material examined by the Brady Center.

Subsequent to the release of the report, one of the dealers mentioned in the report, Tanner's Sports Center of Jamison, Pennsylvania, contacted us and indicated that the sale discussed in the report to a "straw purchasing" team was, in fact, completed with the cooperation of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, resulting in several arrests. Based on the dealer's representations, we have deleted this example from the report.
